This study looks at the state of human rights in Africa and the function of journalists in highlighting violations of human rights. In the course of the study, the desktop research approach was used to analyze a variety of concepts, including human rights, journalism, human rights in Africa, the difficulties involved in reporting human rights in Africa and the function of journalism in promoting human rights, among others. The study's conclusion shows that human rights are violated in African countries. Among the causes of this human right violation include poor governance, a non-democratic culture, poverty and illiteracy. The study also reveals that despite the difficulties being encountered by the media in carrying out their duty of reporting human rights abuse, the media have contributed to the advancement of human rights.
